During August 14-16, the 2023 Academic Forum on Dynamic Evolutionary Optimization Theory and Applications (DEOTA 2023was held in the NEU International Hotel. The forum was co-sponsored by the State Key Laboratory of Synthetical Automation for Process Industries of NEU and the Cyber Intelligence Institute of De Montfort University in the UK. It was jointly chaired by Prof. Ding Jinliang from the State Key Laboratory of Synthetical Automation for Process Industries of NEU and Prof. Yang Shengxiang from De Montfort University.

This forum gathered a number of influential experts and scholars in the field of computing intelligence, 7 IEEE Fellows from such countries and regions as China, Australia, Germany, the UK, and Mexico, and more than 200 academic elites and professionals in the field of computing intelligence and industry applications from over 60 well-known universities at home and abroad. It invited 10 scholars to make special reports, including Prof. Jin Yaochu, Academician of the European Academy of Sciences, an IEEE Fellow and President-elect of IEEE CIS; Prof. Kay Chen Tan, an IEEE Fellow and Vice-president of IEEE CIS; Prof. Yao Xin, an IEEE Fellow and former President of IEEE CIS; Prof. Carlos A. Coello Coello, an IEEE Fellow and Editor-in-chief of IEEE TEVC; Prof. Zhang Qingfu, an IEEE Fellow; Prof. Zhang Xiaoming, an IEEE Fellow and Editor-in-chief of IEEE TETCI; Prof. Li Xiaodong, an IEEE Fellow; Wang Ling, a National Distinguished Young Scholar from Tsinghua University; Prof. Luo Wenjian from Harbin Institute of Technology (Shenzhen); and Prof. Li Changhe from China University of Geosciences (Wuhan). They shared their latest achievements and scientific research experience in related fields and actively interacted with others, conducting in-depth exchanges and discussions on the issues related to computing intelligence.

The forum had a discussion session themed How to publish high-quality research papers, which was presided over by Professor Yang Shengxiang. It invited Prof. Carlos A. Coello Coello, Prof. Zhang Qingfu, Prof. Li Xiaodong and Prof. Wang Ling to talk freely, providing an opportunity for scholars to exchange and discuss face-to-face. The forum aims to focus on the theory and application of dynamic evolutionary optimization, jointly discuss the latest research results, technological innovation and application cases in related fields, set up a platform for knowledge, achievement and talent exchange and interaction, facilitate the development and innovation of China's computing intelligence and related fields in academia and industries, and provide a good opportunity for young scholars to study and exchange.
