NEU Won the Gold Medal of the ICPC and Selected for the Global Finals

Recently, the 48th ICPC Asia Nanjing Regional Contest was held in Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics. Undergoing five hours of continuous programming competition, the NEU team guided by Liu Xiaofeng, a teacher from the College of Computer Science and Engineering, won the gold medal, and was once again selected for the global finals of the ICPC five years later with an excellent result of ranking sixth among the participating universities.

The 48th ICPC Asia Nanjing Regional Contest attracted more than 2000 teams from over 500 universities. After going through the online selection, a total of 331 teams from 193 universities including Tsinghua University, Peking University, Renmin University of China, Zhejiang University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University and NEU participated in the live competition. In the fierce competition with numerous master-hands, the NEU team responded calmly and played stably, showing excellent programming ability, algorithm knowledge and team spirit, and finally stood out. This is the fourth time that NEU has entered the global finals of the ICPC. NEU is also the only university in Liaoning Province that has been qualified for the global finals since the event was held 48 times.

The ICPC is one of the largest and highest-level international programming competitions for college students in the world. It is also an annual competition designed to demonstrate college students' ability to innovate, work as a team, and write programs and analyze and solve problems under pressure. Having developed for more than 40 years, the ICPC has become the world's oldest, largest and most influential computing competition for college students. Known as the "Olympics" of the IT industry, it is an effective way to select and discover the best programming talents in the world. In 2024, the NEU team will participate in the global finals, competing with more than 100 outstanding teams selected from different regions around the world. They are expected to achieve greater honors for NEU and the Asian region.
