According to the latest ESI statistics released by Clarivate Analytics in September 2024, the paper Digitalization and carbon emission reduction technology R&D in a Stackelberg model published by Professor Chen Junlong's team from the School of Economics, Northeastern University at Qinhuangdao in the SSCI journal Applied Economics Letters has been selected as one of ESI Hot Papers. Sun Chaoqun, doctoral candidate, is the first author, and Professor Chen Junlong is the second and corresponding author.
The paper analyzes the impact of digitization on the research and development of carbon reduction technologies and the optimal level of digitization based on a Stackelberg model. The study found that emission reductions are correlated with the level of digitization, cost reduction effects, and carbon taxes; and that R&D on emission reduction technologies benefits from digitization support; and that there exists an optimal level of digitization that is affected by the nonlinearity of the carbon tax, and that the level of digitization that satisfies the maximization of social welfare is higher.
It is reported that ESI Hot Papers are papers published in ESI-listed journals within the last two years that are ranked in the top 0.1% of the world in terms of the number of citations in the last two months compared to all papers in the same year, discipline, and publication type. The paper was published online in March 2024 and is currently cited 16 times.
