Recently, the global finals of the China-U.S. Young Maker Competition 2022 were held online. After going through two rounds of road shows and reviews, the undergraduate project of An Automatic Water Collecting and Root Irrigation Device for Trees in Deserts Based on Bionic Principles instructed by Du Tao, a teacher from the School of Metallurgy of NEU, won the first prize (3 in the world, including the only 1 in China). This is the first time NEU has won this first prize since taking part in the competition. The project stood out in the two rounds of review and won the first prize in Shenyang Division, and then participated in the global finals on behalf of Shenyang Division as the first place.
