From December 2 to 6, the China International College Students’ Innovation Competition (2023) was held at Tianjin University. Chen Miner, Tianjin Municipal Party Secretary, was present at the relevant activities. Huai Jinpeng, Secretary of the Party Group and Minister of the Ministry of Education, and Zhang Gong, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Tianjin Municipal Committee and Mayor of Tianjin showed up and delivered speeches. Wu Yan, member of the Party Group and Vice-minister of the Ministry of Education, presided over the excellent project resources matching meeting for the competition. NEU won one national gold award, six silver awards and five bronze awards. Among them, the project titled Deep Ground Stethoscope - the World's Leading Guardian of Deep Entry won the gold medal, achieving NEU's breakthrough in the gold medal on the authoritative industrial topic track. The project was jointly recommended by the Institute of Deep Engineering and Intelligent Technology and the College of Resources and Civil Engineering of NEU, with doctoral student Zhang Wei as the leader, and Professor Feng Xiating, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, as the instructor.
The China International College Students’ Innovation Competition (2023) was jointly sponsored by 12 departments including the Ministry of Education and Tianjin Municipal People's Government, and presented by Tianjin University. A total of 4.21 million projects and 17.09 million people from 5,296 universities in 151 countries and regions at home and abroad registered for the competition. 1,260 outstanding projects stood out and were selected to participate in the live competition at the final stage at Tianjin University from December 3 to 6.
Attaching great importance to the competition, NEU set up a special working group to launch the university-level selection contest named "NEU Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition 2023". Finally, 1,346 projects participated in the on-campus selection, with 5,674 participants, including undergraduates, postgraduates, doctoral students and graduates, fully covering the 18 colleges (schools).
