On December 16, the final of the "CCSI Cup" National Innovative Engineering Competition ended at the Software Park of Shandong University. NEU won 2 first prizes, 5 second prizes and 9 third prizes. Among them, the work titled Innovative Bionic Water Dispensers won the silver medal in the national final. It was jointly completed by students Wang Shengbo, Tang Zirui, Huang Xinjie, He Xinyi and Xue Hongyun, under the guidance of teacher Zhu Cuilan from the School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship. NEU ranks first among all universities nationwide for the total number of awards it won.
With the theme of "Innovators are great, innovators must win", the competition was sponsored by the China Creative Studies Institute (CCSI) and co-presented by the CCSI Innovative Engineering Branch and Shandong University. It aimed to unite the innovative forces of universities, enterprises, industries and other sectors, promote the construction of innovative engineering, cultivate innovative engineering talents, and build an innovation exchange platform. The competition consisted of three groups: group of students, group of teachers, and group of enterprises. Topics were assigned uniformly by the competition organizing committee to the group of students. Students from different universities could form a team to participate in the competition around the creative proposals of new product forms, new concepts, new functions, new technologies, new processes, new intelligent experience and new interaction related to the three major scenes: meal preparation + cooking + dish washing in kitchen, bathing and care in bathroom, and whole house drinking water. Since launched, the competition has attracted more than 400 teams from universities across the country. In mid-November, the expert review team conducted an online evaluation and awarded 17 first prizes, 37 second prizes, and 64 third prizes. Among them, 17 national first prize works were shortlisted for the final. They were required to solve problems on-site and complete the design scheme within 3 days. Finally, 1 gold award, 2 silver awards and 3 bronze awards came into being.
In the final, the two teams of NEU carried forward the spirit of teamwork to solve problems creatively and accurately, comprehensively demonstrating the innovation ability and level of NEU students. Broadcast live, the competition built a good communication platform for mutual learning and promotion between the participants. It let the students know the innovation achievements and methods in different fields, and inspired more innovation.
