Recently, the Baosteel Education Foundation (BSEF) announced the "Winner List of Baosteel Education Award 2023". A total of 10 teachers and students from NEU won the award. Among them, Professor Gong Yadong from the School of Mechanical Engineering and Automation won the “Baosteel Special Award Nomination for Outstanding Teachers” (10 people in the country). Since the establishment of the “Baosteel Education Award”, this is the sixth consecutive year that NEU teachers have won the “Baosteel Special Award for Outstanding Teachers” and the “Baosteel Special Award Nomination for Outstanding Teachers”. Four professors including Zhao Xingdong from the College of Resources and Civil Engineering, Zhang Tingan from the School of Metallurgy, Wang Zhechao from the Key Laboratory of Ministry of Education on Safe Mining of Deep Metal Mines, and Li Gang from the School of Management of NEU at Qinhuangdao won the “Baosteel Award for Outstanding Teachers”. Five students including Zhang Peiyao from the School of Material Science and Engineering, Cheng Hang from the School of Mechanical Engineering and Automation, Song Zhenghang from the College of Information Science and Engineering, Xia Chenyue from the Software College, and Niu Shaoyi from the School of Control Engineering of NEU at Qinhuangdao won the “Baosteel Award for Outstanding Students 2023”.
Initiated in 1990, the “Baosteel Education Award” is issued once a year. With more than 120 institutions of higher learning in the country involved, it is one of the most influential education awards that colleges and universities actively participate in. It covers five awards: the “Award for Outstanding Teachers”, the “Special Award Nomination for Outstanding Teachers”, the “Special Award for Outstanding Teachers”, the “Award for Outstanding Students”, and the “Special Award for Outstanding Students”. It aims to "reward outstanding talents, uphold respecting teachers and emphasizing education, promote industry-university cooperation, and support the development of education". After more than six months of publicity, launch, application and evaluation, a total of 498 students and 271 teachers won the “Baosteel Education Award 2023” with the deliberation and confirmation made at the “Baosteel Education Award” Review Committee’s Conference 2023.
