On February 27, the “Vanke Cup” of the 10th National College Students Skiing Challenge (Finals), sponsored by Federation of University Sports of China, and the qualification trials for alpine skiing and snowboarding events of the 32nd World College Student Winter Sports were held at Songhua Lake Ski Resort in Jilin province.
The contestants in this competition are composed of more than 200 athletes from 44 schools across China. Dongge Su, a student from the Sports Department of NEU, won first place in the men's C-A group of the giant slalom by a landslide, and was awarded the title of "Excellent Athlete" in this competition. He was nominated for the Chinese athletic delegation at the 32nd World College Student Winter Sports.
With a rich foundation for ice and snow sports, our university has won many achievements in ice and snow events. The skiers of the NEU skiing team have represented China participating in Winter Universiade for many times. Under the guidance of team leader Yuning Sun and coach Mingzhi Lu, the skiers overcame many difficulties and worked hard to win glory for our school, highlighting the “Never Say Die” sportsmanship and adding success to the development of ice and snow sports in our school.
