NEU students achieved good results in the first Career Planning Contest for College Students in Liaoning Province

From March 5 to 10, the finals of Employment Track and Growth Track in Liaoning Division of the First Career Planning Contest for College Students were successfully held in Dalian Maritime University and Shenyang Institute of Engineering respectively. After careful planning and full preparation for the contest, all five students in our school achieved good results in the finals. Employment Track (Higher Education Group): Zhaosong Liu, a doctoral student of Grade 2020 of School of Materials Science and Engineering, won the first prize, and Fan Wu, a master student of Grade 2021 of College of Information Science and Engineering, won the second prize. Growth Track (Higher Education Group): You Wu, an undergraduate of Grade 2021 from School of Humanities and Law, and Zhou Fang, an undergraduate of Grade 2021 from School of Resources and Civil Engineering, won the first prize, and Yanxing Liu, an undergraduate of Grade 2021 from Sports Department, won the second prize. Xiaoshi Zhang and Xiaopan Zhao won the Outstanding Instructor Award.

A few days ago, the Ministry of Education launched the first Career Planning Contest for College Students, which aroused widespread concern in society. Qualification Trial in Liaoning Province of the first Career Planning Contest for College Students was hosted by the Education Department of Liaoning Province, undertaken by Dalian Maritime University and Shenyang Institute of Engineering, and co-organized by College Student Employment and Entrepreneurship Center in Liaoning Province. This Contest aims to further guide college students to establish correct views on talent and employment, popularize knowledge of college students' career planning, spread the concept of career growth, improve their innovation, practical skills, and abilities in employment and entrepreneurship and promote high-quality and full employment of college graduates. The Contest is divided into two tracks: growth and employment, and two groups: higher education group and vocational education group. It adopts a three-level contest system of college contest, provincial semi-finals, and provincial finals, attracting students from various educational backgrounds and disciplines to participate. A total of more than 300,000 students from 102 colleges and universities registered for the contest. After the review of semi-finals, a total of over 240 contestants from the higher education group and vocational education group advanced to the finals. In the finals, the contestants competed through theme statements, comprehensive interviews, and receiving "offer" surprisingly, and gave an all-round presentation from aspects such as self-cognition, career goals, career positioning, and job fit. In the end, a total of 5 contestants won first prizes, 10 contestants won second prizes, and 15 contestants won third prizes in the employment track (higher education group); 6 contestants won first prizes, 12 contestants won second prizes, and 18 contestants won third prizes in the growth track (higher education group).

It is reported that NEU attaches great importance to the work of educating students for employment, always adheres to the concept of serving the growth and development of students, and strives to establish a career development guidance system that integrates "general guidance, specialized guidance, and personalized guidance" as well as "curriculum platform, activity platform, and consultation platform" to complement each other, hence making every effort to promote the growth, success, and sustainable development of students at NEU. NEU fully recognizes the important role of career planning contest in the process of talent cultivation, and regards the contest as an effective platform to promote students' deep thinking about the future and scientific planning for development. It guides students to establish career planning awareness early, plan their academic and career development rationally, and cultivate the correct views on talent, employment, and career choice. The school launched the fourth Career Challenge Contest and NEU Campus Qualification Trial of the first Career Planning Contest for College Students in November 2023. At the same time, a series of themed activities such as "Freshman Season · Setting Sail" and "Brave Career Season" were held to attract more than 10,000 undergraduate and graduate students from the whole school to actively participate. Through special coaching, training camp, and campus final, a total of 10 contestants from our school were selected to enter the provincial semi-final, among which 5 contestants advanced to the provincial final.
