The 7th China SKA Science Annual Symposium was successfully held on May 7-9 in Shanghai. The Symposium was guided by the SKA China Office of the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), convened by Academician Xiangping Wu, Chief Scientist of China's SKA, and organized by Shanghai Astronomical Observatory, Chinese Academy of Sciences. More than 200 experts and young scholars from the Shanghai Astronomical Observatory, the National Astronomical Observatories, NEU, Sun Yat-sen University, Peking University, Tsinghua University, Beijing Normal University, Purple Mountain Observatory, and Nanjing University participated in the Symposium. In the Symposium, the progress of the current work of SKA in both the international and domestic arenas was summarized, and in-depth exchanges were carried out on topics such as cosmology and neutral hydrogen surveys, cosmic magnetic fields, and transient source detection. In the Symposium, 62 academic reports were made, and 5 Excellent Report Awards from Graduate Students were selected, with three reports from NEU being honored.

Wanpeng Sun, Zewei Zhao and Jiguo Zhang, doctoral students of the Physics Department under the guidance of Professor Xin Zhang of NEU, made academic reports respectively, introducing their research results in the fields of fast radio bursts classification and cosmological applications.

Fast radio bursts are a kind of novel astronomical phenomenon discovered in recent years, and the energy release mechanism of fast radio bursts is still an unsolved mystery. The research results of Professor Xin Zhang's team at NEU show that, with the help of a large number of fast radio bursts samples in the future SKA era, it is expected to make breakthroughs in major cosmological issues such as deciphering the nature of dark energy.

It is reported that the national key research and development program SKA special project "Neutral Hydrogen Survey and Cosmological Simulation" presided over by Professor Xin Zhang aims to complete end-to-end simulation for neutral hydrogen intensity mapping surveys and carry out related theoretical research, providing simulation sample support for data processing and related scientific research of SKA neutral hydrogen survey. Since the implementation of the project for more than a year, important progress has been made. A number of graduate students from Professor Xin Zhang's team reported their research work on related topics in this Symposium.

It is understood that SKA is the largest radio telescope built by mankind so far. It is an international scientific project jointly built by many countries around the world and is expected to bring about major changes in the field of natural science. As one of the important activities in China's SKA scientific research, the SKA Science Annual Symposium plays an important role in promoting the development concept of China's SKA, gathering domestic SKA research forces, and cultivating SKA talent teams.
