The Kick-off Meeting and Implementation Plan Review Meeting of the Key Special Project "Integrated Operation Robot for Autonomous Inspection and Evidence Collection through Visual and Olfactory Collaboration" of the National Key Research and Development Program "Intelligent Robots" was held in the International Academic Exchange Center of NEU on April 23. Fan Meishan, project director of the Industry Development Promotion Center of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Tang Lixin, Vice President of NEU, and other relevant experts and scholars attended the meeting.
Tang Lixin said that NEU has long been committed to the research and development of intelligent sensors and robot technologies, and has continuously promoted collaborative innovation and breakthroughs in key industrial technologies. This project will establish an in-depth collaborative innovation mechanism, efficiently coordinating project deployment, resource allocation, and organization and implementation among other aspects. It will build a three-in-one integrated model of "technology interaction - resource coupling - knowledge co-creation", pool strength and wisdom to tackle key problems, ensure the timely achievement of all set goals, and enhance China's R&D strength and independent innovation capabilities in the field of high-end patrol robots.
According to Fan Meishan, the project team should truly enhance their sense of responsibility, mission and urgency, and advance all tasks in an orderly manner according to the timeline, based on clear hierarchy and assigned responsibilities to individuals. The project team should conduct proper daily supervision and management as well as system establishment of each subject, improve the tasks and indicators of the project, clarify the technical route and outputs, and strictly implement all the indicators of the subject tasks. It is hoped that the experts attending the meeting can give full play to their professional advantages, offer suggestions actively, and put forward constructive and forward-looking opinions and suggestions.
Professor Meng Fanli gave an overall report on the project implementation plan as the project leader. The leaders of each subject respectively made itemized reports on the specific theories and technologies of the project implementation plan. The expert group gave full recognition to the implementation plan of the project and each subject, and conducted in-depth discussions and provided guidance on the existing problems and improvements of the implementation of the project and each subject.
It is reported that this project is led by NEU and jointly carried out by seven top domestic research institutions and leading enterprises in the industry, including Southern University of Science and Technology, Harbin Institute of Technology and Tsinghua University, etc. It focuses on the demand for autonomous intelligent patrol, traceability, evidence collection and risk elimination robots in the hazardous chemical industry and public safety fields. Based on the entry points of gas tunnels, chemical sites, underground pipelines and stations, the project is engaged in research on basic theories and algorithms, development of key core components, integration of integrated robots, and verification of applications in typical scenarios. It’s intended to break through the key technical bottlenecks of the integrated operation of robot autonomous inspection and evidence collection through visual and olfactory collaboration, comprehensively enhance China's R&D strength and independent innovation ability in the field of high-end patrol robots, and efficiently ensure the safety of personnel, property and society in the hazardous chemical industry and public safety fields.
