NEU Achieved Success in the Minsk Robotics Open 2023 (Belarus)

The Minsk Robotics Open 2023 (Belarus) kicked off in Minsk, the capital of Belarus, from June 10 to 12. It was co-organized by the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Belarus, the Executive Committee of the Brest Region, Brest Sci-tech Park Co., Ltd. and the Confucius Institute of Science and Technology of Belarus National Technical University (BNTU). 

Li Wenxue, Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute of Science and Technology of BNTU, Alexander, Deputy Director of the National Children's Science and Technology Park of Belarus, and Jia Zixi, Deputy Dean of NEU’s Faculty of Robot Science and Engineering attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches.

This event was open to full-time students and young robot enthusiasts. A total of more than 1,000 people participated in the competition. The competition was in the forms of open tournament and country match. The open tournament had 12 courses for individual players or teams. The country match had three courses for the students from China’s NEU, Belarus ‘s BNTU, and Russia’s ITMO, St. Petersburg Aerospace University, Moscow State Technical University, and Pskov State University.

After intense competition, NEU’s team won two championships and one third place in the three courses of the country match. NEU’s team was jointly organized by the International Cooperation and Exchange Department and the School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, and instructed by teacher Wen Shiguang from the Faculty of Robot Science and Engineering and teacher Ma Mingxu from the School of Mechanical Engineering and Automation. With outstanding performances, team members Wang Yida, Wei Junjie and Shi Yansong from the College of Information Science and Engineering won the championship in the Computer Vision Competition and the third place in the Robot Racing Competition in the country match. Wang Jiapeng and He Yichuan from the Faculty of Robot Science and Engineering tied for the robot football championship with the joint team of Russian universities in the country match.
