The International Conference on language, Data and Culture Held in Northeastern University

From October 19 to 20, the International Conference on language, Data and Culture, sponsored by Northeastern University was held in the international academic exchange center of Northeast University,organized by the Foreign Studies College of Northeastern University and the School of Foreign Studies, Northeastern University at Qinhuangdao. More than 100 representatives from Clark University, UCLA (University of California, Los Angeles), the University of Auckland, Dongguk University, University of Silesia, the Education University of Hong Kong, Tsinghua University, Northeastern University,Beijing Institute of Technology, Yunnan University, Hunan University, Beijing Foreign Studies University, Shanghai International Studies University, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, Xi'an International Studies University, Beijing International Studies Universities, 

Beijing Normal University, Minzu University of China, Chinese Academy of Sciences and other universities and scientific research institutions attended the meeting.


The topics of this international conference mainly include linguistic empirical research, corpus-based second language / foreign language teaching research, language and culture research in the big data era, the organization forms and social behaviors of daily conversations, theinteraction order and social cultural practice of institutional conversation,social interaction, daily narrative and social cultural identity construction.

Professor Michael Bamberg of Clark University, Professor Tanya Stivers and Professor Tao Hongyin of UCLA, Professor David Coniam of the Education University of Hong Kong, Professor Michael Barlow of the

University of Auckland, Professor Youngmin Kim of Dongguk University, Professor Shang Biwu of Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Researcher Fang Mei of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences made keynote speeches respectively. 


During the meeting, four sub forums were set up around the theme ofthe conference. The sub forum, chaired by Professor Yu Guodong of Shanxi University, Professor Zhao Wen of Northeastern University, Professor Ma Wen of Shandong University and Researcher Zhang Wei of Tongji University, held a heated discussion and exchange on discourse analysis, corpus linguistics, language education, language and culture, etc. Nearly 50 representatives read out their research results and discoveries.
