NEU Professor Qin Gaowu’s Team Found Asymmetric Ordered Segregation of Solute Atoms at Grain Boundaries

Recently, a research paper,Nonsymmetrical Segregation of Solutes in Periodic Misfit Dislocations Separated Tilt Grain Boundaries by professor Qin Gaowu’s team from the School of Material Science and Engineering of NEU and researcher Yang Yuansheng from the Institute of Metal Research of CAS has been published online in Nano Letters. In this study, the HAADF-STEM  technique for spherical errors correction combined with molecular dynamics simulation is used to reveal the ordered segregation behavior of solute atoms at grain boundaries.

The first author of this paper is Dr. Xie Hongbo, a young teacher at the School of Material Science and Engineering of NEU, and the corresponding authors are Pan Hucheng, an associate professor at the School of Material Science and Engineering of NEU, and Huang Qiuyan, an assistant researcher at the Institute of Metal Research of CAS. The research has received support from the National Key R&D Program, the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the “Talents Program for Liaoning’s Revitalization” Innovation Team Fund of Liaoning Province, and the China Postdoctoral Science Foundation.
