NEU Achieved Outstanding Results in the Scientific and Technological Achievement Transformation Competition for the Staff of Universities Directly under Liaoning Federation of Trade Union 2021

Recently, Liaoning Federation of Trade Union and Liaoning Provincial Department of Human Resources and Social Security jointly held the Scientific and Technological Achievement Transformation Competition for the Staff of Universities Directly under Liaoning Federation of Trade Union 2021. After going through such links as recommendation by universities and preliminary evaluation and review by provincial experts, the project of professor Chu Mansheng’s team from NEU’s School of Metallurgy won the first prize in the competition, and two other scientific and technological projects of NEU won the “Outstanding Achievement Award”.

Themed “promoting the transformation of scientific and technological achievements, facilitating the revitalization and development of Liaoning Province in the new era, the competition aims to show the scientific and technological achievements of the staff of universities directly under Liaoning Federation of Trade Union and facilitate the transformation of scientific and technological achievements of universities in Liaoning Province, making due contributions to the all-round revitalization of Liaoning Province in the new era.

The project of professor Chu Mansheng’s team - R&D and application of key technologies of low carbon and intelligent integration of sintering and blast furnace is oriented to the major strategic needs of carbon neutrality in the iron and steel industry. The team has conducted in-depth studies on key technologies and engineering applications of low carbon and intelligent iron making that features sintering and blast furnace integration, and applied for a number of national invention patents with independent intellectual property rights. The main technical and economic indicators of the project have reached the international advanced level, and the study results have an important demonstration and leading role in enhancing economic benefits, reducing carbon emissions and improving intelligence level for steel enterprises in Liaoning Province and even the whole country.
