Interdisciplinary Salon for Young Scholars on Clean Energy Technology in Low-carbon Economy Held
On May 6, NEU’s Interdisciplinary Salon for Young Scholars on Clean Energy Technology in Low-carbon Economy was held in Room 312 of the Hall of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering. Sha Haiying, Chairman of the Labor Union of NEU, Li Hongru, Director of the Development Planning and Discipline Construction Department, and Yu Tianbiao, Executive Dean of the School of Mechanical Engineering and Automation were present at the salon. More than 20 young teachers from Brunel University London and the School of Mechanical Engineering and Automation, the School of Metallurgy, the College of Sciences and the School of Humanities and Law of NEU had academic exchanges on related research topics.
Researcher Wang Xinyan from Brunel University London and Professor Sun Xiaoqi from the College of Sciences of NEU introduced the latest research progress in new energy utilization and energy storage with the topics of Discussion on Low-carbon/Zero-carbon Transportation Power System and Fuel Technology and Study on Secondary Water System Zinc Battery Electrode Materials respectively.
In group discussion, Professor Wang Xinyan from Brunel University London, Professor Zhang Jingqi from the School of Humanities and Law, Professor Luo Wenbin from the School of Metallurgy and Professor Sun Xiaoqi from the College of Sciences of NEU acted as conveners of the four groups respectively. They organized the present young teachers to conduct in-depth discussions from a multidisciplinary perspective on the future direction of development and the challenges faced by clean energy technology in low-carbon economy, storage and transportation problems of hydrogen energy technology, carbon emission problems in the process of energy storage media production, and issues of digital intelligent information security. Through discussion, they harvested rich results.
After the group discussion, Professor Zhang Shiwei from the School of Mechanical Engineering and Automation and Professor Sun Hongbin from the College of Sciences respectively gave comments and guidance to the salon, and put forward suggestions on the direction of interdisciplinary research of clean energy technology in low-carbon economy.
NEU’s Interdisciplinary Salon for Young Scholars on Clean Energy Technology in Low-carbon Economy is one of the important measures in the Implementation Plan of NEU for Creating an Atmosphere of Interdisciplinary Integration. It is held regularly every month. With young scholars as the main body and Leading the future with interdisciplinary integration and innovation as the theme, the salon aims to build a platform for young teachers from different disciplines to have scientific research exchange and cooperation, create a strong interdisciplinary atmosphere, and facilitate interdisciplinary research.
