During October 8-14, the 10th National Metallographic Skills Competition for College Students was held in the Minhang campus of Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Under the guidance of teachers Zhao Zhuo, Liu Yang, Liu Yujie and Gao Minkun, students Shen Zhihao, Zhou Xi and Cao Wenbo from NEU’s School of Material Science and Engineering respectively won the first, second and third prizes in the competition.
The 10th National Metallographic Skills Competition for College Students was sponsored by the MOE Teaching Steering Committee of Materials for Higher Education and presented by Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Ingot iron and # 20 steel were used as the samples for the semi-final. After the samples were prepared by pre-grinding, polishing and corrosion, the judges scored the samples submitted by each competitor based on their microscopic observation. Nodular cast iron was used as the preparation samples in the final, and the final prizes were determined according to the total results of the preparation of these three kinds of samples.
