Rcently, the “Research and Application of Artificial Intelligence Technology” academic forum (online) was held jointly by the Alumni Association of NEU, the European Alumni Association Alliance, the UK and Ireland Alumni Association of NEU, and the School of Computer Science and Engineering NEU. The forum invited Professor Xingwei Wang, Vice President of NEU and Dean of the School of Computer Science and Engineering NEU, Professor Xiaoming Fu, an Academician of the European Academy of Sciences, and other outstanding alumni active in various fields in Europe to give academic reports. The forum received strong support from alumni of NEU around the world, with approximately 12,900 people participating online.
In his speech, Xingwei Wang expressed that to focus on the development of the field of artificial intelligence, one should broaden their horizons, gather collective wisdom, and explore new knowledge. He hoped that the forum would serve as an opportunity to discuss the role and trends of artificial intelligence in promoting the development of new quality productive forces, and to achieve cross-disciplinary collaborative innovation in talent cultivation, breakthroughs in key technologies, and optimized resource allocation. He aimed to build a more prosperous and open new ecosystem for the development of artificial intelligence and to plan a new blueprint for the application and development of artificial intelligence technology.
Daxue Sun, the President of the UK and Ireland Alumni Association, introduced the basic situation of the forum and relevant content of artificial intelligence legislation. During the academic report session of the forum, Professor Xingwei Wang gave a keynote speech titled “Industry-Education Integration in the ‘AI+’ Era”; Professor Xiaoming Fu, an Academician of the European Academy of Sciences, gave a keynote speech titled “Social Economic Status and Sustainability Based on Multidimensional Spatiotemporal Big Data”; Alumni Yunpeng Zhu gave a keynote speech titled “Enriching Traditional Network Attack Detection Schemes with Artificial Intelligence”; Vice President of the UK and Ireland Alumni Association, Professor Guangbo Hao from the Mechanical Engineering Department of University College Cork, gave a keynote speech titled “Innovative Design, Modeling, and Application of Flexible Mechanisms”; Professor ShengxiangYang, Director of the Computational Intelligence Research Center at De Montfort University in the UK, gave a keynote speech titled “Evolutionary Computation for Solving Challenging Optimization Problems”; Dr. Alei Duan, an alumnus from the UK NEU, gave a keynote speech titled “Artificial Intelligence in the Financial Sector”.
