From September 17 to 27, 11 students and 2 teachers from the School of Mechanical Engineering and Automation at NEU visited Kyushu Institute of Technology in Japan to participate in the "Zhixing Overseas" international cooperation program. This study visit centered around Project-Based Learning (PBL), aiming to enhance students' practical skills and international perspectives in technical fields such as machine vision and intelligent detection through international learning and collaboration. During their stay in Japan, the students also visited Yaskawa Electric Corp. and the TOTO Museum, gaining insights into Japan's advanced manufacturing technologies and historical change.

Eleven students from NEU were divided into five teams to collaborate with students from Kyushu Institute of Technology on various technical projects. These projects involved cutting-edge technologies such as facial attribute analysis, image segmentation, object detection, data augmentation, and content generation. Utilizing technical frameworks like Django, YOLO, and Deepface, the students applied these technologies to practical scenarios and achieved notable learning outcomes. The five teams completed tasks such as the development of a data enhancement website, a facial attribute analysis system, an image segmentation website, and an object detection website. They presented and evaluated their projects in groups, with awards such as Best Performance being granted to the outstanding teams.

It is reported that Kyushu Institute of Technology and NEU established an inter-university exchange and cooperation relationship in 2007, and have maintained a good partnership over the years. Between the School of Mechanical Engineering of NEU and the Department of Engineering of Kyushu Institute of Technology, academic exchange activities have been conducted annually since 2016. Relying on the "Zhixing Overseas" Program of NEU, it has also been the first time that the Chinese side funded a student trip to Kyushu Institute of Technology for field activities.
