On April 18, the Symposium on Empowering High-Quality Development of Higher Education with Artificial Intelligence in Liaoning Province and the Promotion Conference for the Construction of Modern Industry Colleges was held at the Center for International Academic Exchanges, NEU. The event was sponsored by the Education Department of Liaoning Province, undertaken by NEU and co-organized by Chaoxing Fanya Group.
Wang Qiang, Vice President of NEU, pointed out that NEU would raise its position, focus on the strategic direction of empowering higher education with artificial intelligence, continuously optimize the development of disciplines and specialties, and vigorously cultivate future leading talents in science and technology for industries. NEU would join hands with universities and leading enterprises within the province to establish the Liaoning Province Alliance of Artificial Intelligence Empowering Education and Teaching Reform and Development, boosting the high-quality development of higher education in Liaoning Province.
Deng Yubo from the Department of Education of Liaoning Province stated that he hoped this conference would serve as an opportunity to accelerate the empowerment of higher education teaching reform via artificial intelligence in Liaoning Province and to effectively implement the Several Measures of Liaoning Province for Promoting the Empowerment of Higher Education Teaching via Artificial Intelligence.
According to Hou Yongfeng from the Science and Engineering Education Office of the Department of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education, it is necessary to fully recognize the significance of developing artificial intelligence, seize the opportunity, promote the deep integration of artificial intelligence and industrial development, form new quality productive forces, and contribute to high-quality development.
At the conference, the Nameplate-unveiling Ceremony for Liaoning Province Alliance of Artificial Intelligence Empowering Education and Teaching Reform and Development was held. This Alliance is led by NEU and jointly initiated by 20 universities in Liaoning Province that offer artificial intelligence programs, including Dalian University of Technology. Its main tasks are to promote the implementation of the national education digitalization strategy action in Liaoning and to facilitate the deep integration of artificial intelligence technology with education and teaching. Every year, it organizes and conducts special work on artificial intelligence empowering educational and teaching reform in Liaoning's universities, actively propelling the reform and innovation of education and teaching.
At the keynote report of the conference, Professor Wang Quan,Vice President of Xidian University, shared the future trends of the in-depth application of educational big data. Professor Wang Xingwei, Vice President of NEU, shared his thoughts on the integration of industry and education in the "Artificial Intelligence +" era. Professor Chen Junlong from South China University of Technology explored the application potential of large and small model collaboration technology in educational scenarios. Qin Botao, General Manager of Chaoxing Fanya Group, presented an innovative case of AI-driven digital and intelligent teaching.
Three sub-forums respectively unfolded in-depth discussions on topics such as the empowerment of program development, course development, textbook development and laboratory construction, the development of general artificial intelligence curriculum with artificial intelligence and the improvement of artificial intelligence literacy and application ability of teachers and students, and the empowerment of construction of modern industrial colleges with artificial intelligence. Sixteen experts, including Professor Zhao Yaqin from Harbin Institute of Technology and Professor Dang Yuewu from Sichuan University, shared practices such as the transformation of "intelligence + specialization", the integrated education model, and the establishment of an industry-education collaboration ecosystem.
After the sub-forums, representatives from participating universities and enterprises engaged in thorough exchanges and interactive discussions.
