The NEU Team Won the Outstanding Winner Award in the 2025 Mathematical Contest in Modeling

Recently, the results of the 2025 Mathematical Contest in Modeling (MCM/ICM) were officially released. NEU has won one Outstanding Winner Award, nine Finalist Awards, 35 Meritorious Winners and 129 Honorable Mentions in this competition. A total of 174 international awards were obtained, marking another year of outstanding results.

The team of Liu Jiaxin, Wu Dongchen and Zhu Zichen under the instruction of Xie Liping, a teacher from the School of Software, won the Outstanding Winner Award in this competition. Nine teams won the Finalist Award for the Special Prize of the competition, including the team of Liu Jinhe, Li Tian’ai and Fei Yijing under the instruction of Liu Huilin, a teacher from the School of Computer Science and Engineering, the team of Li Fuyu, Huang Peng and Chen Gefan under the instruction of Luo Hongchen, a teacher from the School of Information Science and Engineering, the team of Zhang Yongshan, Li Shengyang and Li Bin under the instruction of Ma Lianbo, a teacher from the School of Software, the team of Ding Hongxu, Guo Haibin and Zhou Hao under the instruction of Wang Yisong, a teacher from the School of Metallurgy, and the team of Zhuang Xinyu, Shen Ming and Ma Xinyue under the instruction of Lu Yao, a teacher from the School of Mathematics and Statistics.

It is reported that the MCM/ICM, hosted by the Consortium for Mathematics and Its Applications of the United States, is the most influential mathematical modeling competition in the world. This event began in 1985 and has been held for 41 sessions up to now. The competition attracts outstanding college students from all over the world to compete every year. The competition topics cover such fields as economics, management, environment, resources, ecology, medicine, and safety.

The competition this year was held from 6 a.m. on January 24 to 9 a.m. on January 28 Beijing time, attracting a total of 27,456 teams from around the world. The winning rate for the Outstanding Winner (O Award) and the Finalist (F Award) of this year's competition was only approximately 0.16% and 1.80% respectively.
