Recently, the National Finals of the 2025 (18th) National Software Innovation Competition for College Students came to an end. NEU sent a total of 7 teams to compete in two tracks, namely the Software System Security Competition and the Software Design Innovation Competition. They won 1 First Prize, 2 Second Prizes and 4 Third Prizes at the national level. Professor Xu Jian from the Software College won the Excellent Instructor Award in the Software System Security Competition, and NEU won the Best Regional Organization Award in the Software Design Innovation Competition.
The competition consists of two tracks: the Software Design Innovation Competition and the Software System Security Competition. The Software Design Innovation Competition, with the theme that "Software Defines the World, Innovation Leads the Future", attracted 5,638 participants of 2,009 teams from 362 universities across the country. As an important innovative measure of the competition, the "Software System Security Competition" track has been set up this year. As the first national-level competition centered on "software security", this track takes "Software Defines Security" as its theme, focusing on system vulnerability protection and security architecture design. It has attracted 1,780 teams from 406 universities across the country.
It is reported that the Pilot Software Engineering Schools Association has been holding the National Software Innovation Competition for College Students since 2008. The competition has gradually developed into a benchmark event in the domestic software field and has played an important role in promoting the progress of software technology and cultivating innovative and compound software talents. This competition is also recognized as a five-star competition in the "Star Rating Table of Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competitions of NEU".
