The 7th "Liu Changchun Cup" Teacher-Student Tennis Competition of NEU was held in the Tennis Hall of Hunnan Campus from June 7 to 8. This competition attracted numerous tennis enthusiasts from all colleges and different grades across the university, setting a new record for the number of participants.
Sun Yuning, Director of the Physical Education Department, delivered a speech in which he stated that regardless of whether one is a teacher or a student, the spirit of competition and camaraderie should be fully displayed on both sides of the net. This not only embodies the spirit of sportsmanship but also serves as a vivid example of NEU's commitment to all-round development. Sun Yuning encouraged the teachers and students to learn from one another and unite their efforts through competition, making sports a bridge connecting classroom learning with extracurricular activities.
The competition featured six events, namely, men's team event and women's team event, men's singles for faculty members, women's singles for faculty members, men's singles for students, and women's singles for students. After two days of intense competition, the Physical Education Department successfully won its title in the men's team event, and the women's team of the College of Sciences claimed the championship for the first time. Mr. Wu Zhenning from the School of Information Science and Engineering and Ms. Jiang Xiaohong from the Department of Physical Education took the title in the men's singles event and women's singles event for faculty members respectively. Zhang Xinlei from the Physical Education Department and Sheng Yao from the College of Sciences won the championship in the men's singles and women's for students respectively. Mr. Wang Xinghua, the chief referee of this competition, presented the trophies, medals, certificates and prizes to the winning contestants.
