On October 1, the China Innovation Society and the Organizing Committee of the Second National Innovation Project Competition issued the "Notice on the Official Announcement of the Award Winners at the Second National Innovation Project Competition." Students from NEU swept Gold Awards in both the Undergraduate and Graduate Categories of the Competition, securing a total of 8 National First Prizes, 11 Second Prizes and 9 Third Prizes. Their tally of awards ranked first among all participating universities nationwide. Zhu Cuilan, Meng Fanli, Wu Ziyang, Wu Yiming and Li Xiangyu were honored as Outstanding Instructors. NEU received the Best Organization Award, making it one of only three universities nationwide to earn this distinction.
The project "Light Sugar e-Test: A Breath-Based Convenient Diabetes Detection System Based on TRIZ Theory," jointly completed by students Nie Jiahao, Li Qiyan, and Guo Chenhao under the guidance of Zhu Cuilan from the Innovation and Entrepreneurship College as the innovation methodology advisor and Meng Fanli from the School of Information Science and Engineering as the professional advisor, was awarded the only National Gold Award in the Undergraduate Category. The project titled "Now or Never: A Fault Diagnosis Device for Electric Rotating Machinery Based on TRIZ Theory," jointly completed by students Hao Yunrui, Li Junting, and Wang Yiran under the guidance of Zhu Cuilan from the Innovation and Entrepreneurship College as the innovation methodology advisor and Wu Yiming from the School of Information Science and Engineering as the professional advisor, was awarded the only National Gold Award in the Graduate Category.
The Competition this year, themed with "Advancing Technology, Celebrating Life," is hosted by the China Creative Studies Institute. It aims to foster the development of innovative engineering education across universities by combining competition with teaching, learning, and innovation in competitions. The event seeks to ignite students' passion for innovation while enhancing their creative and practical capabilities.
It is reported that NEU has consistently adhered to innovation-driven development, emphasizing the integration of theoretical instruction with engineering practice. The National Innovation Engineering Competition has been designated as a five-star competition receiving key support from NEU, actively encouraging students to cultivate and enhance their engineering practical skills through participation. Through organizing campus-wide qualification trials, NEU recommended a total of 38 entries for the competition. The contestants collectively won 6 First Prizes, 11 Second Prizes, and 8 Third Prizes in the Undergraduate Category, and 2 first prizes and 1 third prize in the Graduate Category. Eight entries were shortlisted for the Gold, Silver and Bronze Awards, ultimately securing two Gold Awards and three Bronze Awards for outstanding performance.
