The finals of the China International College Students Innovation Competition (2025) were held at Zhengzhou University from October 13 to 15. NEU secured an impressive haul in this year's competition: 7 gold medals (5 from the main campus, 2 from branch campuses), 8 silver medals (7 from the main campus, 1 from branch campuses), and 5 bronze medals (2 from the main campus, 3 from branch campuses). This represents a record high in total awards for NEU, with the number of gold medals ranking among the top universities in China.
The China International College Students Innovation Competition (2025) is jointly hosted by 11 departments including the Ministry of Education and the People's Government of Henan Province, and co-organized by Zhengzhou University and the People's Government of Zhengzhou City. The 2025 Competition continues the theme "I Dare to Explore, I Can Innovate". Since its launch in April this year, the Competition has attracted 6.19 million projects from 5,673 schools across 161 countries and regions worldwide, with 4,720 projects ultimately advancing to the finals.
Since the launch of this Competition, NEU has placed high importance on it. The Innovation and Entrepreneurship College has coordinated and meticulously organized the event, while all schools conducting extensive mobilization, pooling efforts, and encouraging enthusiastic participation from faculty and students. Faculty and students have enthusiastically participated in it. Over 2,000 project teams have registered for the competition. At the Liaoning Provincial College Students Innovation Competition (2025) held in July, NEU won 22 gold awards, 28 silver awards, 14 bronze awards, and 11 excellence awards. Ultimately, 15 projects made it to the national finals, with 12 of them advancing to the live competition stage of the national finals.
After intense competition in each track, "Maritime Patrol Smart Eye—China's First Ultra-Long Distance + High-Precision Submarine Cable Health Intelligent Monitoring Platform", "Luoshu—Pioneer of Domestic Programming Language and Technology" (Qinhuangdao Branch), and "Cell 'Light' Test—The First Red Blood Cell Elasticity Intelligent Testing Platform Based on Optical Tweezers" (Qinhuangdao Branch) won the gold award in the Undergraduate Creative Category of the Main Track of Higher Education. "Lin Dong Bionic—Domestically Pioneering Low-Drive Bionic to Open a New Era of Smart Fish Farms" won the gold award in the Entrepreneurship Category of the "Youth Red Dream-Building Journey" track. "Medical Path Breathing—A New Paradigm of Integrated Health Monitoring of Sensation, Storage and Calculation, Empowering the Revitalization of Rural Medical Care" and "Red Rock Spine Treatment—A New Model of Slope Detection and Treatment, Facilitating the Road to Safe Prosperity in Rural Areas" received the gold award in the Creative Category of the "Youth Red Dream-Building Journey" track. "Steel Pulse Insight: An Intelligent Diagnosis and Decision-making System for the Entire Steel Manufacturing Process Based on Industrial Big Data Visual Analysis" obtained the gold award in the Technology Transfer Category of the Industrial Track. "Luoshu—Pioneer of Domestic Programming Language and Technology" (Qinhuangdao Branch), "Lin Dong Bionic—Domestically Pioneering Low-Drive Bionic to Open a New Era of Smart Fish Farms" and "Medical Path Breathing—A New Paradigm of Integrated Health Monitoring of Sensation, Storage and Calculation, Empowering the Revitalization of Rural Medical Care" ranked first in the group stage. NEU also achieved a breakthrough by winning its first gold medal in the “Red Tourism” track.
