March 5 marks the 63rd National Learn from Lei Feng Day. NEU has launched a university-wide "Spring Rain Initiative" series of volunteer activities to learn from Lei Feng, aiming to deeply understand the contemporary significance of Lei Feng's spirit and continue his legacy through concrete actions in the new era.
Volunteer service leaders from both university and college levels were dispatched to conduct field research at the Lei Feng Memorial Hall in Fushun. A thematic seminar titled "Learning from Comrade Jin Chenglong" was held for student organization leaders at both levels. A campus-wide collection of reflections on reading Lei Feng's Diary was organized. These activities intended to promote and interpret the contemporary significance, cultural essence, and practical legacy of Lei Feng's Spirit in the new era.

Students were arranged to actively participate in routine volunteer activities such as supporting the Spring Festival travel rush and providing community services, leveraging their winter break practical experiences. Around March 5, the College Student Volunteer Association and volunteer service groups from various schools were mobilized to carry out diverse Learn from Lei Feng volunteer activities. These initiatives included delivering tangyuan and warmth to firefighters and sanitation workers near the campus, participating in community outreach programs and senior care homes, engaging in environmental improvement efforts and knowledge dissemination campaigns, and inspiring the students to take root at the grassroots level while demonstrating their sense of responsibility.

The campus new media matrix was fully leveraged to integrate the promotion of Lei Feng's spirit into cultural creations through videos, display boards, calligraphy and paintings, posters, and other forms. The "Youth Volunteers in Action, Lei Feng by My Side" themed publicity campaign was organized for Lei Feng Day; calligraphy and painting creation activities centered on learning from Lei Feng were held, and a scenario-based recitation celebrating the spirit of Lei Feng was produced.

Volunteer service teams at both university and college levels—including the Graduate Student Volunteer Teaching Team, NEU Guo Mingyi Care Team, and the “Mingguang Dream-Building” Volunteer Service Team—leveraged their disciplinary strengths to launch targeted assistance initiatives. These efforts delivered educational support and aid to underserved communities, fostering a cohort of volunteer projects characterized by compassion, competence, and responsibility. Such initiatives inspired faculty and students alike to become practitioners of Lei Feng's spirit in the new era.

It is reported that over the past year, volunteer service projects conducted at both university and college levels reached 284, with over 4,400 volunteer activities, involving over 50,000 student participants. The large-scale system of Learn from Lei Feng volunteer activities has become a vivid picture of NEU students putting Lei Feng's spirit into practice.
