Recently, the results of the 2026 International Collegiate Mathematical Contest in Modeling (MCM/ICM) were announced. Teams from the Qinhuangdao Campus performed exceptionally well, winning 1 Outstanding Winner award, 5 Finalist awards, 18 Meritorious Winner awards, and 48 Honorable Mention awards. Among them, the team consisting of Liu Canlin, Zhao Haoting, and Ou Minjun, supervised by Zhang Shangguo, won the Outstanding Winner award and was also awarded the Ben Fusaro Award.
The International Collegiate Mathematical Contest in Modeling is organized by the Consortium for Mathematics and Its Applications (COMAP) in the United States. It is one of the most influential mathematical modeling competitions in the world. The competition requires teams of three students to tackle open-ended, real-world interdisciplinary problems and to complete a series of research tasks, including problem analysis, mathematical modeling, and the writing of solution papers. This competition attracted 32,213 teams from around the world to compete, with only 41 Outstanding Winner awards selected, representing a winning rate of 0.13%. This marks the second time that the Qinhuangdao Campus has received this highest honor since it first won the Outstanding Winner award in 2023.
