In June 2nd, the Environmental Science and Engineering Symposium co-hosted by five Chinese and Japanese universities namely Northeastern University, Dalian University of Technology, Harbin Institute of Technology, Jilin University, Nagoya University was held in the Northeastern University International Center. President of NagoyaUniversity, Matsuo Seiichi, vice president, Yoshihito Watanabe, president of NEU, Zhao Ji, vice president Wang Jianhua attended the openning ceremony. Scholars, experts and postgraduates from these five universities attended meeting. Wang Jianhua hosted the opening ceremony.
Zhao Ji pointed in his speech that Environmental Pollution and Control was the most important regional and global topic of this century, and some front edge scientific problems needed joint efforts of experts from this discipline or inter-discipline. He emphasized that all the five universities had distinct disciplines and long academic history, and this symposium would definitely deepen academic communications, fully demonstrate research achievements, widely discuss hotspot in environmental studies, broaden scientific horizon, so as to lay a solid foundation for academic consensus, and consolidate the already-established inter-school cooperation and boost further cooperation in environmental science field.
On the symposium, experts and scholars from five universities would make series of lectures focusing on environmental frontier problems. After the opening ceremony, President Zhao Ji met with Nagoya University delegation in Tongxin Hall.
