In the evening of March 30th, Feng Xiating, the chairman of International Society for Rock Mechanics and the director of Chinese society of rock mechanics and engineering, made the report of Scientific and Technical Innovation and Humanity Breakthrough--the Challenges and Opportunities in Rock Engineering Science and Technology. Parts of the school's teachers, postgraduates and undergraduates, totally around 500 people took part in this report.
Feng Xiating's report focused on three themes: the major needs in the field of national mining industry and infrastructure construction;the development process of the rock engineering science and technology; the challenges and opportunities in the future. Feng scientifically analyzed the leading edge knowledge of the present geotechnical engineering science and technology development and then he introduced the outstanding contribution of several Chinese geotechnical engineering authorities in this field to the world, especially their remarkable results in the International Society for Rock Mechanics. In the end, he expressed his deep willing that the students could 100% percent devote themselves into studying, and try to be the main forces and fresh troops of circular industry development.
