Northeastern University Held 2015 “International Summer School for Postgraduates”

In the morningof Aug. 3rd, the opening ceremony of International Summer School forPostgraduates of Northeastern University in 2015 was held in Han Qing Assembly Hall,Northeastern University (NEU). NEU vice-President Jiang Maofa, principals ofGraduate School, Sino-Dutch Biomedical and Information Engineering School,College of Life and Health Sciences, as well as overseas scholars hired by the InternationalSummer School and 29 PhD Candidates from 23 universities of 9 countriesattended the ceremony.


Jiang Maofawelcomed the overseas scholars and students on behalf NEU teaching and administrativestaffs and students. He indicated that NEU always pay high attention to “opendevelopment”, and the International Summer School is also one of the promotionsthat speed up internationalized process of NEU. He hoped that in the next twoweeks, the participants of the Summer School could communicate academicthoughts, inspire innovative thinking, and promote academic progress. In addition,he wish the event achieve complete success.


Links:The Summer School Program is a high level, innovative and open program launchedby NEU, aiming to further create an education environment ofinternationalization, and deepen the internationalized characteristics ofschool-running. The program will improve the notability and influence of NEU bycarrying out international academic exchange and cooperation as well as crossdisciplinary integration and development.


Renownedexperts and scholars from universities and institutions in Europe and U.S.A.will be invited visit NEU and give lectures during the summer school. Eligibleapplicants from around the world are welcome to the program. Contents includingcourses, enterprise visit and cultural trips. Lectures will be delivered inEnglish for creating an international environment of learning, and a diverse,multi-disciplinary, multi-level blend of classroom and campus environment.


Thesummer school will last for two weeks with an intensive schedule of lecturesand visiting trips. All lectures will be based on disciplines in the field ofbiomedical and information engineering. In addition, involved faculty andstudents will have the chance to discuss the related topics with experts, andvisit famous local enterprises cultural places of interest. Through learning, in-depthdiscussion and interaction, the students will have a comprehensive and trueunderstanding of the developing situation and trend of biological andinformation engineering at home and abroad. The program will help students tolearn knowledge and expand vision.
