
Apr. 4th,the Technological Confucius Institute jointly established by NortheasternUniversity (NEU) and Belarussian National Technical University held a lectureof “Origin of Chinese Characters and Calligraphy”. Liu Yuying, dean ofConfucius Institute, started with the carved symbols discovered in Wuyang JiahuSites, Henan Province, which has a history of 8000 years, then presented theformation of oracle during Shang Dynasty, as well as the development history ofChinese bronze inscriptions and bamboo carving, introduced the developmentprocess of Chinese characters as pictogram vividly. Long Xue, teacher ofChinese, showed the students correct ways to write Chinese calligraphy, and guidedthem to the practice.
