Northeastern University President Zhao Ji Met with the General Manager of IBM Greater China Region College Cooperation Department

Apr. 24th,Guan Lian, General Manager of IBM Greater China Region College CooperationDepartment, and Manager of Northeast China Xu Xi, visited NortheasternUniversity (NEU). President Zhao Ji met with the guests in Han Qing AssemblyHall accompany with principals of NEU Software College.


Guan Lianindicated that NEU is one of the first 35 universities and colleges that have cooperatedwith IBM since 1995. Reviewing the 20 years history of cooperation, NEU alwayskeeps high degree of motivation to participate in all the education reform, disciplineconstruction, and scientific research projects, including the latest “ExcellentEngineer Plan” and the engineering practical programs. NEU has made greatcontributions to the cooperation, and meanwhile has achieved prominent results.IBM launched the “Big Data 100” plan combined with Chinese Education Commissionin 2014, and would jointly establish Big Data and Data Analysis Center with universitiesand colleges in China, in order to promote their interdisciplinary courseconstruction and industrial interaction. The Big Data Center will donate NEU $1million worth of software to help building teaching and research platform of bigdata and data analysis, and deepen the cooperation with NEU in related fields.


Zhao Jiintroduced the development of NEU Cloud Computing Science and TechnologyIndustrial Park and Neunn Technology Co.Ltd briefly, and pointed out that innovationand industry-university-research linkage have been the traditional characteristicsand preponderances of NEU since the university was set up in 1923. During thenew period, NEU would pay great attention to discipline cultivating related to thenew generation of information technology, and look forward to a further anddeeper cooperation with IBM in the future.
