Recently, announced by State Ethnic Affairs Commission,the two-way intelliget translation system between Chinese and national minoritylanguages in china which was developed by Professor ZhuJing bo and his R&Dteam of Northeastern University together with Chinese minority languagetranslation bureau was formally put intoservice. This system uses the NiuTrans translation engine independentlyresearched and developed by Professor ZhuJingbo and his R&D team, which canaccomplish two-way translation between Chinese and five kinds of nationalminority languages including Mogolian,Tibetan,Uyghur,Kazakhstan and korea.It is the first set of translation system between Chinese and national minoritylanguages in china.
It is reported that NiuTrans translation engine wasindependently developed by NEU with completely independent intellectualproperty rights. It can be widely used in organizations such as newspaperoffices, presses, magazines and radios, which can reduce translators’laborintensity and improve the informationization of translation of nationalminority languages.
