On May 19, Iain Gillespie, Principal of the University of Dundee, Judy Finlay, Head of China Projects, Faisel Khan, Associate Dean (International) of the School of Medicine, and Zhihong Huang, Director of the Centre for Medical Engineering and Technology visited NEU. NEU President Feng Xiating, accompanied by officials from the International Cooperation and Exchange Department and the College of Medicine and Biological Information Engineering, met with the guests.
Feng Xiating expressed welcome to the visit of Iain Gillespie and his delegation and introduced NEU’s preponderant disciplines and future development priorities, as well as the activities related to its centennial celebration. Iain Gillespie introduced the University of Dundee's leading edge and research foundation in the field of medicine, as well as the cooperation with NEU in co-cultivation of students. The two parties expected that they would continue to deepen and expand practical cooperation in the future based on the good foundation of cooperation between the two universities in cooperative education programs, international cooperative training programs for innovative talents, and faculty research. Technological advantages of NEU in the fields of artificial intelligence and data analysis will be combined the with the research advantages of the University of Dundee in the fields of medicine and life sciences to promote the establishment of an international cooperation platform. Cooperation between the two universities in talents training, teacher exchange and scientific research will be further deepened.
Founded in 1881, the University of Dundee is a famous research university. It ranked 23rd in the UK and 127th in the world in the Good Universities Guide 2018 by TIMES. Approved by the Ministry of Education in 2019, NEU and the University of Dundee jointly launched Sino-foreign cooperative education programs of biomedical engineering.
