From May 18 to 19, the 2024 ICPC National Invitational Tournament (Shaanxi) was held at Northwestern Polytechnical University. The NEU team won the championship. This is the first time NEU has won the championship in this high-level contest, achieving a historic breakthrough. In this contest, NEU sent a total of 5 teams to participate, all from the school's ACM innovation team, guided by Professor Xiaofeng Liu from the School of Computer Science and Engineering. Among them, 4 teams won gold medals (including the championship team), and 1 team won a silver medal.

The contest attracted a total of 382 official teams from 201 universities including Beihang University, Wuhan University, Tongji University, Xi'an Jiaotong University, Harbin Institute of Technology (Shenzhen), and NEU. After a fierce contest of programming problem- solving for five consecutive hours, teams from NEU, Harbin Institute of Technology (Shenzhen), and Wuhan University respectively won the championship, runner-up, and third place in the contest.

It is reported that the ICPC aims to showcase innovative ability, teamwork spirit, and the ability to write programs, analyze and solve problems under pressure for college students. After more than 40 years of development, the ICPC has become the oldest, largest, and most influential university contest in the world, known as the “Olympics” of the IT industry, and is also recognized as a six-star high-level contest in the Star Classification Table of NEU Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition.
