Northeastern University Held International Summer School for Graduate Students of “Smart Civil Engineering”

From July 8 to 14, the 2019 Northeastern University International Summer School forGraduate Students of “Smart Civil Engineering”, sponsored by NortheasternUniversity, was held in Shenyang. More than 150 experts and students from 18countries and regions participated in the opening ceremony and summer schoolactivities.

At the opening ceremony, A.P.S. Selvadurai, Canadian academician and professor of McGill University, Yang Yongbin, academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, Robert Zimmerman, professor of Imperial College London, Carlos Carranza Torres, professor of the University of Minnesota Twin Cities, etc. all made special presentations successively.

It was reported that the 2019 Northeastern University International Summer Schoolfor Graduate Students of “Smart Civil Engineering” would last for 7 days and would invite 25 well-known scholars and professors from 18 universities in Britain, the United States, Russia, Canada, Australia, South Korea, Pakistan, Nigeria,Taiwan and mainland China to conduct academic exchanges. The students attending the International Summer School include 52 postgraduates and 16 international students from Northeastern University, and 42 students from 19 schools in 15 countries and regions. This graduate student international summer school launched a series of academic exchanges and special lectures around the concept of “smart civil engineering” discipline development. It strengthened the exchange between teachers and students through the evaluation of students’ academic reports, practical visits, Shenyang cultural trip and other activities. The summer school also launched the “Third Northeastern University-Yunlin University of Science and Technology Symposium on New Developments in Cross-StraitCivil Engineering Construction”, “The Fourth Sino-Russian International Conference on Geotechnical and Underground Engineering” and “The Smart Civil Engineering Construction and Operation Forum of the 21st World Academic Alliance”. At the same time, as part of the training mode of “smart civil engineering” innovative talents of civil engineering discipline, summer school has also set up a series of frontier courses for our students to learn.
