Recently, the unveiling ceremony for the Polar Geotechnical Engineering Research Center at Northeastern University (NEU) was held at the Northeast Hall of the Northeast Hotel in Shenyang. The research center is established under the School of Resources and Civil Engineering at NEU. Focusing on the discipline of geotechnical engineering, it integrates the university's research foundation in fields such as rock mechanics, underground engineering disaster prevention and control, as well as intelligent operation and maintenance, while conducting research oriented toward the safety requirements of major projects in polar, cold, and complex environments.

During the event, the leaders in attendance exchanged views on topics such as engineering safety in complex geological and extreme environments, smart disaster prevention, and resilience enhancement, providing a reference for the future research initiatives of the Polar Geotechnical Engineering Research Center.
